All information about buying a bong - Buying my first bong!

From Newbie to Pro - A guide to buying your first bong

One of the most frequent questions we are asked in our shops is: "What is the best bong for beginners?

Due to the huge selection of materials, shapes and sizes, brands, and accessories, it can get confusing for novices. That's why we have collected the answers to all the important questions that come up when buying your first bong.

Glass bong or plastic bong - what should I choose?

Let's start with the obvious: the choice of material. Both materials, glass and acrylic, have their advantages and disadvantages.

Glass is heat resistant, easy to clean, tasteless, and in many cases, more beautiful than its plastic or acrylic counterpart. But the disadvantage of glass is that it can break easily. Experienced bong smokers can tell you a thing or two about this. Therefore, such bongs are less suitable for on the road.

In contrast to the glass version, plastic bongs are more robust, lighter, cheaper and also perfectly suited for outdoor use. Especially in the summer months, people like to buy plastic bongs to take along on a festival weekend or to swim at the lake. The disadvantage of a plastic bong is that it takes on a bad taste over time, and even regular care will eventually not get rid of the lousy taste.

A big exception are the bongs from Krass Design. They are more expensive to buy, but they are made of high quality 5mm acrylic. In addition, they have a plug-in system that can also be equipped with glass heads and accessories in the right size.

For taste reasons, we advise to use a glass bong. It is much easier to maintain and if you take care of it, you will enjoy it for a long time. In addition, there are many more accessories such as pre-coolers, activated carbon filters, heads or ashcatchers.

Thick, Thin, Belly, Bend - Does the shape make a big difference?

So many different shapes!!! Which one should I just go for?

Basically, you should know that the shape of the bong has a big impact on the smoking experience. A bong with a belly (beaker bong) has the advantage that more water fits inside. This keeps the smoke cool and you don't have to change your bong water as often. With a straight bong you may have to run to the sink more often to change the water.

For starters, we advise taking a bong that has a less wide pipe. A narrower draft is very pleasant, especially in the beginning, and doesn't let the smoke hit your lungs with full force.

Many shapes, such as a bent mouthpiece, simply increase smoking comfort, but have little effect on taste or cooling.

Does the size of the bong matter?

From the small mini bong to the 70cm monster, the selection is also diverse in terms of size. The size of your bong determines how much smoke fits into the bong. Since the lung volume of beginners is rather small, you should not immediately reach for the giant.

A bong that is too large cannot be mastered at the beginning, not even with repeated setting down and taking a breath. On the other hand, bongs that are too small have the disadvantage that they do not hold enough water to cool the smoke and the draught is often too short. It can happen that you get a sip of bong water when you tighten the bong.

Neither sounds ideal - so we recommend you opt for a nice middle ground. This will definitely bring the most fun - especially for beginners.

The perfect accessories for my bong

Every bong comes with either a chillum (one-piece) or a coupling and bowl (two-piece). For smoking comfort, of course, the 2-piece system is more comfortable. You can leave the coupler in the bong and simply remove the hat to fill it.

Of course, you can smoke your new acquisition just as you take it off the shelf or as it arrives in the mail. But pay attention to the size of the head and especially the hole.

In most cases, a head is delivered that has a hole that is too big. In that case, we recommend simply taking a couple of screens with you. Or, even better, switch to a smaller flood head. The latter makes more sense at the beginning of your bong career, as a small amount of filling is usually enough to relax you.

Brands Brands Brands - which bong brand is the best?

Like everywhere else, some big brands have established themselves in the cannabis industry. They differ from each other mainly by more stable material, better processing and of course effective marketing.

Whether this is relevant for you as a beginner, only your budget decides. Companies like ROOR, Krass Design, Zenit, G-Spot or Hurricane produce in Europe and therefore have higher quality standards than imports from the Far East.

In principle, you can say that it is the same with bongs as with all products. A Balenciaga T-shirt is expensive and good, but one from H&M also dresses.

We hope we could answer a few basic questions. And our final tip: visit the head store of your choice and get good and detailed advice! Take your time and look at everything - often you spontaneously fall in love with your future favorite bong.
